If Music Function as the Food of affection, how do you plan it on your Wedding?
Congratulations, you are getting married….that is the great part!
Yes, but now you must arrange for the wedding ceremony Date, Dress, Wedding Flowers, Ceremony Location, Venue, Rings, Selection, Guests List, Seating Arrangements, Invitations, Honeymoon Plans, Limo’s, and so forth. That’s the not-so-great part!
The marriage Planning experience could be both uplifting, and frustrating. It could often feel like, “the best, and worst of times”, in other words Charles Dickens. You’ll find, so many decisions, therefore very little time.
This information will address Wedding Music Entertainment, help you in your selection process, and hopefully reduce some stress.
Wedding Music Entertainment,…or not?
Unlike other aspects, Wedding Music Entertainment (Bands, DJ’s, Musicians) isn’t a “must have”, on your Big day. It can be truly an alternative.
So, first of all, does one desire Music regardless of the sort, for your Wedding?
If, “no”, you might have one less decision to generate, stop reading… and about that Dress!
If, “yes”, you will find there’s amount of attempt to do: do you want music for your:
A) Ceremony
B) Cocktail Hour
C) Reception
A, B and C,….or simply A,B, or C….. (you’ll find nine possibilities here)
And if you’re considering any of these, do you want Live Music (Musicians, Bands), or Recorded (DJ) Music?
Your Wedding Ceremony
Your Wedding Ceremony, will likely be probably the most personal section of that unique Day.
Live Musicians are preferred for Wedding parties. They increase the ambiance and emotional setting. And being human, in contrast to recorded Music, they are able to react quickly to alterations in the planet.
As an example, as Bridal Party members, enter and leave, a ceremony area, Live Musicians can very naturally modify the music tempo (speed, feel, etc.), to hold in sync with changing walking steps (older folks usually walk slower, and young folks – particularly if nervous, walk faster). Watching a proficient Musician effortlessly perform an expert, is truly a skill by itself. (experienced DJ’s may also make this happen electronically with recorded music, but it just will not feel as, “natural”).
Therefore, should you desire Ceremony Music of any kind, my suggestion, is Live Musicians (either solo, duo, or trio). And instead of the classic organ, you may want to try something else entirely….flute, harp, piano, violin, cello, horn, or guitar.
Also, when someone within your family has musical talent, by all means invite these to execute a song…it gets a lot more memorable experience in your case, them, and your guests.
Your wedding reception Cocktail Hour
Wedding Cocktail Hours usually are given the least thought regarding music planning. Why? Well for starters, you (the Marriage ceremony) are generally not there (for many from it anyway). This time (immediately after the wedding ceremony Ceremony) is often allotted for Picture taking with the Digital camera….generally in the different area. Which is all fine for the Marriage ceremony, but don’t forget concerning your guests!
Both for the ones that attended wedding ceremony Ceremony, and those that did not, the regular meeting ground, pending your return from Picture taking, could be the Cocktail Hour area. It is here that they’ll, try an hors d’ oeuvre, possess a drink, and start to mingle.
Now I could be considered a bit biased, there is however no more inviting, than soothing music jointly enters a space…it generates some, welcoming, ambiance. It sets the atmosphere. It says in your guests, “yes, come on in, you will find there’s celebration happening in here”!
Which kind of Cocktail Hour Music Entertainment if you choose to your guests?
Live Bands, unless a smaller Classical, or Jazz trio, might be, “overkill”, for a Cocktail Hour. A Solo Musician or DJ could be more modest.
I have attended great Cocktail Hours with Musicians, and great Cocktail Hours with DJ’s. It is again, fuzy, however some people feel Musicians, often include a certain, “Elegance”…
An important factor to consider is niagra could be the “prep time” for your Reception. Until they’ve satisfied their hunger for food, drink and talk, most guests are not going to be in a partying mood initially. This really is fine, because remember, you are not there! So in choosing Cocktail Hour Music, whether it’s Live Musicians or perhaps a DJ, ensure that it stays, “low-key”, at this point…nice background, easy listening melodies, no head-banging sounds, at least, not really.
Your Wedding Reception
The Wedding party has finished picture taking, your friends and relatives have loosened on top of a drink or two, so allow Reception begin!
From the perfect first dance, until the Party’s end, you need to want the DJ or Live Band supplying the Musical Entertainment.
However some DJ’s are great at getting parties really hopping, Bands will be more dynamic. And to be honest, nothing appears like Live Music. However, Bands can be quite expensive. Especially, in case there are over four members…you’re talking from the “upper” thousands dollar range.
In addition to being more affordable (typically about 20 -25% the price of a Band), some DJ’s also offer Karaoke Services, where guests can sing as well as songs on stage, and obtain their, “moment of fame” (you will find there’s least one “ham” each and every party). It is usually a lot of fun for all, and produces some memorable photos.
So in summary, while both Bands and DJ’s are great for Reception Music, if your prices are tight, DJ’s tend to be less expensive.
The way to select your own music Entertainment
From this point, you get a lot of the Music Entertainment decisions for your Wedding. The next move is actual Entertainer selection (Musicians, Bands, or DJ’s).
Fortunately for you personally, (not so for Entertainers), regulations of supply vs demand is at your favor…there are many to choose from.
Obviously, whenever possible, try to see, and/or hear, the Entertainers perform live, perhaps while attending an organization, restaurant, or friend’s Wedding.
Should you revel in their performance, do not be shy about approaching them; most Entertainers have become friendly people, and can welcome your inquiry. Demand a business card, of course, if they will be inclined (or can be found) to execute on your event. Also many Musicians normally have their CD’s available, for sometimes a nominal charge, or sometimes complimentary.
Next to actually hearing Entertainers face-to-face, recommendations from family and friends can be quite helpful. You need to be a lttle bit skeptical, if your friend, of a friend, of your friend, includes a brother-in-law, that typically plays the tuba (or whatever). Ask how much time they have been performing, and ask for names of contemporary performance venues. Also demand a video or audio file of the work.
And of course, almost always there is Google. Like whatever else, you can look for Musicians, or Bands or DJ’s locally, and get many sites. The thing is that every Entertainer’s web site, will mention how wonderful, great, and spectacular these are; every site starts to look exactly the same. How do you choose?
