One thing to remember about traveling through Central Asia is that most regions, especially the towns and cities are more laid back in their approach to Islam than their neighbors to the south of Afghanistan and Pakistan. However, it should also be remembered that it is technically a Muslim region , and thus caution must be taken in certain places. While both men and women can wear shorts or T-shirts in the cities, they must not be wearing large sleeves or T-shirts. However, anyone who is visiting the mosques that are active should wear pants that are below the knees and wear tops that cover shoulders. A head scarf is also recommended for women. The tour takes us to remote locations that aren’t usually visited by tourists. Locals are modest in dress so it is likely that you’ll feel comfortable wearing conservative clothing.

The official language of Tajikistan is Tajik. Russian is still widely used for communication and business.

A majority of people follow Sunni Islam. A small proportion of people are believers of Russian Orthodox, Catholicism and Buddhism.
